Cassette number 94 of the Seddon Tapes: mildewed cassettes, reel to reel tapes and numerous mouldy VHS recordings. Captain Seddon (Royal Signals retired) would habitually recycle cassettes salvaged from the local tip and record over the top of these ‘found’ recordings regardless of their content. In this case, he wrongly assumed that his recording would erase the previous recording. Instead, the pre-existing recording remains, resulting in an accidental and unlikely superimposition with Maurice’s telephone conversation laid over an album from 1993 by Eat Static called Abduction. The telephonic communications date from February 2004 comprising two similar, lengthy conversations about vintage motorcycles for sale. The cassette was labelled by Captain Seddon as “Un-Eraseable”.
