This week: A last ditch fundraising effort assisted by Dan Wilson: “I was thinking of recreating a process piece I recorded in 2002; bringing sheets of newspaper to put on the floor, before running your voice through a loudspeaker placed inside a can of baked beans, stirred with an expendable microphone. Beans seem to be associated with fundraising… vague televisual remembrances of people immersing themselves in baths of baked beans for charity purposes etc. I could also bring a ‘busk wok’ – the very same device that brought about the incident in Cambridge – threatened with arrest for begging (even though it was actually busking, which is legal, and everyone does it in Cambridge)” Brief telephone appeals for donations from Gerry Smith at the Belgian Embassy (Stoke Newington) who offers a painting, Paul Robertson, woken from a hangover, who agrees to send an LP, and finally Hugh de la Cruz who wants to buy a set of Japanese knives.
