Inspired by a recent acquisition; The Cinema of Serge Gainsbourg, a 5 CD set starting with a soundtrack from 1959, followed by a melange of French film soundtracks including “Un Homme et Une Femme” (Francis Lai), tracks composed for William Klein’s “Mr Freedom”, Miles Davis’s score for “Lift to the Scaffold”, voices of Jean Cocteau, Jean Marais, Juliette Greco, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. There are two tracks on the CDs by Anna Karina but they are fairly unremarkable. And Theme de Yoyo by The Art Ensemble of Chicago, with Fontella Bass, for the 1970 film “Les Stances a Sophie”.
