The City Wears a Slouch Hat by Kenneth Patchen and John Cage; original radio broadcast from 1942. “In 1942, John Cage composed the score and directed the music for this surreal journey through the City with The Voice and his many bizarre and unexpected encounters”. 28 minutes, Cortical Foundation CD. Then 30 minutes of a 44 minute track by William Burroughs; “Are You Tracking Me?” from the 3 CD anthology; Real English Tea Made Here. Recorded on April 20th 1965, it combines radio cut-ins with a top level cut-in track of Burroughs reading from his own work. The radio station playing on the base track is frequently changed, sometimes alighting on short wave static or Morse-code, sometimes switching from German to Hispanic stations as well as English language news and music stations.
