Faithfulnessless

This programme will repeat on midnight Sunday unless the world ends today as predicted, in which case the repeat will be postponed. Today’s programme starts with a sound poetry CDR by Gail and Marco who performed on a previous Wavelength under canvas i.e. in a tent in the studio. Next is a vinyl single by philosopher Simon Critchley, edition of 300 copies, on the Philo-Phonic label, issued by The Focal Point Gallery, Southend. The other (aa) side is by Jonathan Dronsfield (philosopher/artist). Each track ends with a locked groove, both with the title Time Will Pass You By. The following record, also issued on the Philo-Phonic label is Stand Up Now by Johnny Boy, recorded in Wigan in 2011 being a cover version with new lyrics of a Northern Soul classic by Frank Wilson. The b side; Organise and Mobilise is an edited extract of a conversation between Cornel West and Simon Critchley at Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2012 talking about Critchley’s book Faith of the Faithless published by Verso. Followed by “Faith of the Faithful” (my title) a selection of Gospel tracks by Shirley Ann Lee, The Rev. Johnny L. “Hurricane” Jones and The Canton Spirituals.
