Telephone call to Cathie Boyd, artistic director of Sonica and Cryptic; Sonica 2018 festival at Kings Place London 20th/21st April featuring 176 live snails harnessed with diodes and speakers. Cathie’s favourite car is a 1973 Karmann Ghia which prompts a brief conversation about old cars. Followed by various tracks associated with creatures; 3 by Dan Wilson (Meadow House) which mention flies and fleas, the Handsome Family; Flies, and Caterpillars from the CD; Wilderness, Flies by Ivor Cutler, two tracks by the poet and word artist; Seekers of Lice, and two tracks from the 1982 Folkways record; Playing Music With Animals by Jim Nollman featuring 300 Turkeys.
