David Leister revisits his legendary Optical Sound Show via the Kino Club film archives: “Yes, films projected on the radio… what could be more logical?” (DL). The first half of the programme takes the form of an optical medley of 16mm soundtracks loosely titled Power on Earth. David also presents a selection of ¼” tape sounds from the archives of Derek Taylor, which filmmaker Lucy Harris has incorporated into Constructed Landscapes, and her sound sculpture Flight Case. The show finishes with a rediscovered radio play rehearsal from 1978. “An unmarked box of ¼” recording tapes is the source of this surreal cut up of acting fragments, with added foley and sounds, again from Derek Taylor’s archive, which was rescued from an impending trip to scrap heap”.
